Herbs are prized for the delicious,
exotic seasoning they bring to favorie foods;
however, they also possess important medicinal
benefits. Each of the above spices has a particular
therapeutic use. Many herbs are used to regulate
the digestive system, while others address specific
complaints such as nausea, muscular spasms, feve
and cough relief.
Black Sesame Seeds are stronger
in aroma and flavor than white seeds. After roasting,
they add a sesame flavor and color accent to rice,
vegetables, and salad. Both white and black sesame
seeds add a nice flavor and texture to baked chicken
or fish, salads, Asian and Indian dishes. For
toasted sesame seeds, place on a cookie sheet
and roast in a 350° oven for 5-10 minutes.
Sesame Seeds: Common
in the United States and Europe for sprinkling
on top of breads and rolls, or in granola.
Sesame Seeds: In
China, meat and fish are rolled in the black seeds
before cooking for a crunchy coating. In Japan
black sesame is used in rice and noodle dishes
and as a tabletop condiment.
